The Story

The Ghana Hydrogen Initiative is an outgrowth of research work conducted and presented at two major international conferences:

• The International Youth Nuclear Congress, Abu Dhabi, UAE (September 29 to October 4th, 2024) and the
• The 1st International Conference on Small Modular Reactors and its application, at the International Atomic Energy Agency Vienna Austria (21st to 25 October, 2024)

The founder announced the initiative following the presentation of a seminal paper on “Mapping Ghana’s Hydrogen Economy: the strategic contribution of Small Modular Reactor  at a technical session of international experts on Non-electric application of SMRs at the International Conference on Small Modular Reactors and its applications. The research work and deliberations following contextualising requirements of a hydrogen economy in Ghana necessitated the establishment of the initiative to facilitate understanding and assessments of strategic requirements of a hydrogen economy in Ghana.
